ABSTRACT

Background: Infectious diseases is one of the problems in the field of health from time to time continues to grow. One of the bacteria that cause infections are often found is Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen in humans. The use of antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance. Bacterial resistance to antibiotics resulted in Staphylococcus aureus infections difficult to treat as bacteria become resistant, so had to use higher doses of antibiotics, as a consequence prices higher. One of the natural antibacterial that can be used as medicine is lime (Citrus aurantifolia). Lime is a fruit that is easily accessible and available throughout the year.
Research Method: This study is a posttest control group only experimental design by using agar diffusion method for anti bacterial activity test and measure the inhibition area. The concentration extract of Lime that tested were 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, with Ciprofloxacin as a positive control and distilled water as a negative control. Each the concentration was replicated four times
Result: The results showed that the extract of Lime may inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus in all concentration tested. Results obtained value of the minimum inhibitory concentration was 20%. Results of statistical test by using one-way ANOVA signifiance value of p
