ABSTRACT
Background: Breast cancer is the growth of breast cells that are not controlled because of the change of the gene responsible abnormal responsible for the regulation of cell growth. There is a simple and inexpensive way to detect early breast cancer that tests done by oneself is called breast self-examination (BSE). As a result of the high rate of incidence of breast cancer, one of which is still a lack of knowledge or understanding of the dangers of breast cancer and awareness of the importance of early examination. This research aims to find out the relationship level of knowledge about breast cancer and breast self-examination behavior in women aged 20-45 years at Sidera village of Sigi Biromaru district.
Research Method: This research used analytic survey with cross sectional approach. Proportional sampling used cluster random sampling. The total sampling was 100 people. Collecting data was done using questionnaire that has been tested for validity dan reliability. Analysis of statistical test used Chi Square.
Findings: The research results of respondent’s knowledge level at Sidera village was a high level of knowledge was 53 people (53.0 percent) and a low level of knowledge was 47 people (47.0 percent). The behavior of the respondents were aware of quite good behavior was 59 people (59.0 percent), good behavior was 39 people (39.0 percent) and bad behavior was 2 people (2.0 percent).
