Underweight is the leading cause of death of 3.5 million children under five years old (toddlers) in the world. Village of Taipa is one of the villages in Palu who have cases with the highest underweight prevalence by 13.5%. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors of underweight among children aged 24-59 months in Taipa village of Palu. This research is a case-control study. The sample in this research that toddlers who were in the Taipa Village of Palu totaling 99 toddlers consisting of 33 cases and 66 controls. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews using a semiquantitative FFQ and weight measurements. Data was analyzed by univariate and bivariate statistical tests. Results showed that energy consumption toddlers who have a high risk of 8.413 times the risk of suffering from underweight compared with toddlers whose energy consumption is low risk (CI: 3.036-23.014), toddlers who consume protein has a high risk of 6.091 times the risk of suffering from underweight compared with toddlers the consumption of protein have a low risk (CI: 2.306-16.094) and toddler parenting eating a high risk 3,200 times the risk of underweight compared with parenting a toddler eating a low risk (CI: 1.293-7.922), whereas toddlers ever an infection risk for underweight 2,250 times compared to toddlers who have never experienced an infectious disease and is not significantly significant (CI: 0.810-6.252). Parents should pay more attention to the food intake of infants and health so that nutrients can be met to support their daily activities so as to avoid underweight.
