EFEK ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK BIJI KELOR (Moringa Oleifera Lam) TERHADAP BAKTERI Escherichia coli
ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang. Indonesia dikenal dengan keanekaragaman hayati yang berlimpah. Banyak diantaranya yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi tanaman obat. Salah satu contoh tanaman obat yang berpotensi sebagai tanaman obat adalah biji kelor atau Moringa oleifera Lam. Biji kelor diduga memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli. Hal inilah yang mendasari penulis untuk melakukan penelitian tentang efek antibakteri ekstrak biji kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam) terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli.
Metode. Desain penelitian menggunakan posttest-only control group dengan bahan yang digunakan yaitu biji kelor, etanol 96%, rotary evaporator, aquadest, nutrien agar, Escherichia coli, ose steril, dan inkubator. Escherichia coli di goreskan diatas permukaan agar kemudian dibuat sumuran dan pada sumuran diisi ekstrak biji kelor, selanjutnya diinkubasi selama 24 jam dan di ukur zona hambat yang terbentuk.
Hasil. Zona hambat terbentuk pada konsentrasi ekstrak 100% dengan nilai rata-rata zona hambat yaitu 9,5 mm.
Kesimpulan. Ekstrak biji kelor 100% memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli.

ABSTRACT
Background. Indonesia is well known for its biodiversity. Many of its biodiversity are potential to be developed as medicinal plant. One of those potential medicinal plants is Moringa seed or Moringa oleifera Lam. Moringa seed is suspected to have antibacterial effects against Escherichia coli bacteria. This is why the researcher wanted to conduct a research about the effect of extract Moringa seeds antibacterial (Moringa oleifera Lam) against Escherichia coli bacteria.
Method. Research design was using control group posttest-only with materials used were moringa seeds, 96% ethanol, rotary evaporator, distilled water, nutrient agar, Escherichia coli, sterile ose, and incubators. Escherichia coli was scratched above the surface of agar. After that pitting was made and filled moringa seed extract. Then it was incubated for 24 hours and measured the inhibition zone formed.
Result. Inhibition zone formed at a concentration of 100% extract with an average value of inhibition zone was 9.5 mm.
Conclusion. A-100%-Moringa seed extract has antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli.
