Modes of transmission of nosocomial infection through direct contact with infected patients and visitors, or through the intermediary of health personnel, air, food, water and environment contaminated with bacteria. Hands are the body parts most often direct contact with their surroundings and also used daily to perform the activity. This greatly facilitates the contact with the bacteria and transfer them to another object. Objective: To identify bacteria through hands of health personnel in Pediatric Department of Hospital Anutapura Palu 2015. Methods: This study uses a quantitative research with an observational study research design. The sampling technique by total sampling. The sample in this research are health personnel in Pediatric Department of RS Anutapura Palu . Results: Culture results obtained from 32 samples growth of bacteria, as for the type of bacteria that is found in 32 samples is 7 samples for Escherichia coli (22%), 5 samples for Serratia marcescens (16%), 2 samples for Serratia odorifera (6%), 1 sample for Serratia rubidaea (3%), 2 samples for Staphylococcus aureus (6%), 3 samples for Staphylococcus cohnii (10%), 4 samples for Pseudomonas aeruginosa (13%), 2 samples for Bacillus cereus (6%), 2 samples for Citrobacter freundii (6%), 2 samples for Enterobacter aerogenes (6%) and 2 samples for Campylobacter pylori (6%). Conclusions: In the hands of health personnel there are various kinds of bacteria is Escherichia coli (22%), Serratia marcescens (16%), Serratia odorifera (6%), Serratia rubidaea (3%), Staphylococcus aureus (6%), Staphylococcus cohnii (10%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (13%), Bacillus cereus (6%), Citrobacter freundii (6%), Enterobacter aerogenes (6%) dan Campylobacter pylori (6%). ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Infeksi nosokomial adalah infeksi yang didapat dari rumah sakit, khususnya di ruang anak yang tersering adalah gastroenteritis. Penularan infeksi nosokomial dapat melalui kontak langsung dengan pasien dan pengunjung yang terinfeksi atau melalui perantara tenaga kesehatan, udara, makanan, air dan lingkungan yang terkontaminasi bakteri. Tangan merupakan bagian tubuh yang sering kontak langsung dengan lingkungan sekitar dan juga digunakan sehari-hari untuk melakukan aktivitas. Hal ini sangat memudahkan terjadinya kontak dengan bakteri dan mentransfernya ke objek lain. Tujuan: Untuk mengidentifikasi bakteri pada tangan tenaga kesehatan di ruang anak Rumah Sakit Anutapura Palu Tahun 2015. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian studi observasional deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan cara total sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah tenaga kesehatan di Ruang Anak Rumah Sakit Anutapura Palu. Hasil: Dari hasil kultur didapatkan 32 sampel mengalami pertumbuhan bakteri, adapun jenis bakteri yang didapatkan pada 32 sampel tersebut adalah 7 sampel untuk Escherichia coli (22%), 5 sampel untuk Serratia marcescens (16%), 2 sampel untuk Serratia odorifera (6%), 1 sampel untuk Serratia rubidaea (3%), 2 sampel untuk Staphylococcus aureus (6%), 3 sampel untuk Staphylococcus cohnii (10%), 4 sampel untuk Pseudomonas aeruginosa (13%), 2 sampel untuk Bacillus cereus (6%), 2 sampel untuk Citrobacter freundii (6%), 2 sampel untuk Enterobacter aerogenes (6%) dan 2 sampel untuk Campylobacter pylori (6%). Kesimpulan: Pada tangan tenaga kesehatan terdapat berbagai macam bakteri antara lain Escherichia coli (22%), Serratia marcescens (16%), Serratia odorifera (6%), Serratia rubidaea (3%), Staphylococcus aureus (6%), Staphylococcus cohnii (10%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (13%), Bacillus cereus (6%), Citrobacter freundii (6%), Enterobacter aerogenes (6%) dan Campylobacter pylori (6%).
