Abstract

Background: Pneumonia is the main killer of babies and the children under 5 years in the world and 70% was happened in the developing countries. In Indonesia, Pneumonia is the second highest cause of death on babies and children under 5 years (13,2%) and the most cases happened on the children in the age of 0-12 months, which are 222.360 (33,81%) cases. In Central Sulawesi Province there were 36,13% pneumonia cases and as many as 36,13% cases were found in Palu City. This high number of cases is one caused by low birth weight (LBW).
Objective. The objective of this research is to know the relationship between low birth weight with the incidences of pneumonia on the babies aged 0-12 months who were hospitalized in Anutapura General Hospital year 2014.
Method: This research was analitic observational research with cross-sectional design. Data used in this research was taken from the medical record of the babies aged 0-12 months who were hospitalized in Anutapura General Hospital year 2014 with the amount of samples were as many as 97. The method of sample collecting was conducted by purpossive sampling method with the consideration of inclussion and exclussion criterias.
