 <note>ABSTRAK&#13;
Latar Belakang. Air merupakan materi yang sangat penting dalam  kehidupan, baik tanaman, hewan maupun manusia. Kehidupan manusia tidak terlepas dari kebutuhan akan air bersih terutama air minum. Air yang harus diminum adalah air yang sehat yang memenuhi persyaratan Bakteriologi, Kimia, Radioaktif dan Fisik berdasarkan Permenkes RI No: 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010, dimana untuk nilai Most Probable Number (MPN) Coliform yaitu 0/100 ml contoh air yang dianalisis.&#13;
Metode. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional dengan pendekatan  deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik total sampling dengan jumlah sampel 9. Pemeriksaan Most Probable Number (MPN) Escherichia coli dilakukan di Laboratorium Kesehatan Daerah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah.&#13;
Hasil. Hasil dari pemeriksaan Escherichia coli didapatkan 6 sampel mengandung Escherichia coli dan 3 sampel tidak mengandung Escherichia coli. Nilai MPN Eschericia coli pada keenam sampel yang positif yaitu T1 28 bakteri /100ml, T2 3 bakteri /100ml, T3 21 bakteri /100ml, T4 39 bakteri /100ml, T5 23 bakteri /100ml dan T9 4 bakteri /100ml sedangkan nilai MPN Escherichia coli pada sampel yang tidak mengandung Escherichia coli yaitu 0 bakteri /100ml. &#13;
Kesimpulan.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan nilai rujukan yang digunakan, 6 sampel yang positif mengandung Escherichia coli secara bakteriologis tidak memenuhi persyaratan untuk menjadi air minum dan 3 sampel yang tidak mengandung Escherichia coli memenuhi standar kualitas air minum secara bakteriologis dengan nilai MPN Escherichia coli 0 bakteri/100ml. &#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
Background. Water is a very important material in life, for plants, animals even humans. Human life is not escape from the need of clean water especially drinking water. Water to be drank must be healthy water which qualifies Bacteriology, Chemical, Radioactive, and Physical qualifications based on PERMENKES RI No: 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010, in which to score the Most Probable Number (MPN) Coliform which is 0/100 ml analized sample water. Method. This study used observational method with a descriptive approach. Retrieving samples used total sampling with a total sample of 9. Most Probable Number (MPN) examination towards Escherichia coli was conducted at Laboratorium Kesehatan Daerah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah.	           Results. Results from Escherichia coli examinations obtained 6 samples containing Escherichia coli dan threee samples do not contain Escherichia coli. The MPN Scores for six positive Escherichia coli samples are T1 28 bacteria/100ml, T2 3 bacteria/100ml, T3 21 bacteria/100ml, T4 39 bacteria/100ml, T5 23 bacteria/100ml, and T9 4 bacteria/100ml meanwhile the Escherichia coli MPN score for the samples which do not contain Escherichia coli are 0 bacteria/100ml.						     Conclusion. Based on the research results and used range values, 6 positive samples contained Escherichia coli bacteriologically did not qualify to become drinking water and 3 samples which did not contain Escherichia coli qualified standard drinking water qualifications bacteriologically with Escherichia coli MPN scores 0 bacteria/100ml.&#13;
