Background: Nutritional status is a state of body as a result of food consumption and the use of nutritional substances. It distinguished between poor nutrition, less, and more. Food consumption gives influence for one’s nutritional status. The nutritional status will better if body gets enough nutrients. &#13;
Objective: To determine characteristic of Mothers with The Nutritional Status of Children Under Five Years of Age in Lindu subdistrict, Sigi district 2016&#13;
Research method: design of this research was descriptive research design with cross-sectional approach that has characteristic with 83 mothers who have children as sample. This research did in Lindu on February 2016. The variable was the nutritional status of children as measured by weight according to age and  variable was knowledge and mother’s demeanor toward nutritional status of children as measured by questionnaires have been test for validity and reliability.&#13;
Result of the research: Distribution mother children under five with good knowladge (53,01 %) and more than of the less knowladge (46,99 %). Proportion distribution mother children under five that be erudite (37,34%) and less than of the less educated (62,66%). Proportion distribution mother children under five that does not work (69,88%) and more than of the work (30,12%). poor nutrition 3,61%, less 3,61%, more 14,46%, and good 73,49%.&#13;
Conclusion: Distribution mother children under five with good knowladge (53,01 %) and less knowladge (46,99 %). Proportion distribution mother children under five that be erudite (37,34%) and less educated (62,66%). ABSTRAK&#13;
Latar Belakang : Status gizi adalah keadaan tubuh sebagai akibat konsumsi makanan dan penggunaan zat-zat gizi. Dibedakan antara status gizi buruk, kurang, baik, dan lebih. Konsumsi makanan berpengaruh terhadap status gizi seseorang. Status gizi baik bila tubuh memperoleh cukup zat-zat gizi. &#13;
Tujuan : untuk mengetahui karakteristik ibu terhadap status gizi balita di Kecamatan Lindu Kabupaten Sigi.&#13;
Metode : Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional dengan jumlah sampel 83 ibu yang memiliki anak balita. Penelitian ini di laksanakan di Kecamatan Lindu pada bulan Februari 2016. Variabel yang diteliti adalah status gizi anak balita yang diukur dengan berat badan menurut umur dan  pengetahuan, pendidikan dan pekerjaan, mengenai masalah gizi anak balita yang  diukur dengan kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reabilitas terlebih dahulu.&#13;
Hasil penelitian : Distribusi ibu balita dengan pengetahuan baik lebih besar (53,01 %) dibandingkan dengan ibu balita dengan pengetahuan kurang (46,99 %).&#13;
Distribusi proporsi ibu balita yang berpendidikan tinggi lebih rendah (37,34%) dibandingkan pendidikan rendah (62,66%).Distribusi proporsi ibu balita yang tidak bekerja lebih besar (69,88%) dibandingkan dengan proporsi ibu balita yang bekerja (30,12%). Status gizi balita buruk 3,61%, gizi kurang 8,34%, gizi lebih 14,46% dan status gizi baik 73,49%.&#13;
Kesimpulan : Distribusi ibu balita dengan pengetahuan baik (53,01 %) dan pengetahuan kurang (46,99 %). Distribusi proporsi ibu balita yang berpendidikan tinggi (37,34%) dan pendidikan rendah (62,66%). Distribusi proporsi ibu balita yang tidak bekerja (69,88%) dan bekerja (30,12%). Status gizi balita buruk 3,61%, gizi kurang 8,34%, gizi lebih 14,46% dan status gizi baik 73,49%.&#13;
