ABSTRACT Background: One of pathogen bacteria found in human in Escherichia coli. Escherichia coli is anaerobic facultative bacteria including in Enterobactericeae and can cause urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection occurs due to the formation of colonies of bacteria in the urinary tract. Temulawak (Curcuma xanhorrhiza Roxb.) has active compounds that have an antibacterial effect. Objective: Research objective to determine the inhibitory extract of temulawak. Methods: Laboratory experimental research design was post test only control group design to make observation in the control group and the control treatment. Temulawak extract concentrations tested were 100%, 40%, 20%, and 10% with cefotaxime as a positive control and Na-CMC a negative control. Each treatment was replicated 6 times. Results: The results show that temulawak extract (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) can inhibit the growth of bacteria Escherichia coli at a concentration of 100%, 40% and 20%. The results obtained from the value of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was 20%. Statistical test results obtained using one-way ANOVA significant value SAKINAH.
