 <note>ABSTRACT&#13;
Background: Staphylococcus epidermidis is species from Staphylococcus that&#13;
causes skin infections. Skin infections can be treated with the use of synthetic and&#13;
herbal antibacterials that can be obtained from plants. One of the types of plants&#13;
that contaIn antibacterial and active substance such as alkaloid,fenol and steroid&#13;
is beluntas leaf (Pluchea indica Less).Then it is to do some research in order to&#13;
find out whether the beluntas leaf has anti bacterial effect against growth&#13;
Staphylococcus epidermidis.&#13;
Objective: The aim of this research was to understand the bacteriostatic and&#13;
bacteriocidal effect of beluntas leaf (Pluchea indica Less) against the growth of&#13;
bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis.&#13;
Methods:this research used experimental design laboratory posttest only control&#13;
group. The number of samples is 36 samples were 6 treatment groups with 6&#13;
repetitions. Indicators of assessment test of antibacterial power of drag by&#13;
observing the diameter of the zones of drag and power to kill existing colonies by&#13;
counting on apetri dish.&#13;
Results: Diameter drag beluntas leaf extract (Pluchea indica Less )zone formed&#13;
at a concentration 12,5%, 25%, 50%, and 100% sequence i.e 13,73mm,&#13;
17,72mm, 20,67mm, dan 23,39mm. On the results of power kill sequence,namely&#13;
1,08 x 106CFU, 0,79 x 106CFU, 0,54 x 106CFU dan 0,31 x 106CFU.&#13;
Conclusion: on othe experiment of leaf beluntas (Pluchea indica Les)s shows that&#13;
by increasing the concentration of extract, then the greater the effectiveness of&#13;
the beluntas leaf extract in suppressing the growth of bacterial colonies.&#13;

ABSTRAK&#13;
Latar Belakang: Staphylococcus epidermidis merupakan spesies dari&#13;
Staphylococcus yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi kulit. Infeksi kulit dapat&#13;
ditangani dengan penggunaan antibakteri sintetis maupun herbal yang dapat&#13;
diperoleh dari tanaman. Salah satu jenis tanaman yang mengandung zat&#13;
antibakteri dan mengandung zat aktif berupa alkaloid, fenol dan steroid adalah&#13;
daun beluntas (Pluchea indica Less.). Maka perlu dilakukannya penelitian guna&#13;
mengetahui apakah ekstrak daun beluntas mempunyai efek antibakteri terhadap&#13;
pertumbuhan Staphylococcus epidermidis.&#13;
Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui daya hambat dan daya bunuh ekstrak Daun Beluntas&#13;
(Pluchea indica Less.) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus&#13;
epidermidis.&#13;
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan eksperimental laboratorium&#13;
posttest only control group. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 36 yaitu 6 kelompok&#13;
perlakuan dengan 6 kali pengulangan. Indikator penilaian uji daya hambat&#13;
antibakteri dengan mengamati diameter zona hambat dan daya bunuh dengan&#13;
menghitung koloni yang ada pada cawan petri.&#13;
Hasil: Diameter zona hambat ekstrak daun beluntas yang terbentuk pada&#13;
konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50%, 100%. Berurutan yaitu 13,73mm,&#13;
17,72mm,20,67mm, 23,39mm. Pada hasil daya bunuh berurutan yaitu 1,08 x&#13;
106CFU, 0,79 x 106CFU, 0,54 x 106CFU dan 0,31 x 106CFU.&#13;
Kesimpulan: Pada eksperimen daun beluntas (Pluchea indica Less.)&#13;
menunjukkan bahwa dengan meningkatkan konsentrasi ekstrak, maka semakin&#13;
besar efektivitas ekstrak daun beluntas dalam menekan pertumbuhan koloni&#13;
bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis.&#13;
