ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang : Diare masih menjadi penyebab kematian kedua pada anak di
bawah 5 tahun di dunia. Sekitar satu dari lima kematian anak dikarenakan diare,
angka kematian diare mencapai 1,5 juta kematian setiap tahunnya. Di Kecamatan
Ulujadi, berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari Puskesmas Tipo pada tahun 2015
didapatkan 458 kasus (24,26% dari target 229 balita). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap ibu dalam penanganan awal diare pada
balita.
Metode Penelitian : Penelitian kuantitatif yang dilakukan dengan metode penelitian
survey yang bersifat deskriptif dengan jumlah responden 100 orang dengan tekhnik
sampling propotional cluster random sampling. Pengumpulan data dengan
menggunakan kuisioner.
Hasil Penelitian : Dari sebaran 100 orang responden, tingkat pengetahuan ibu dalam
penanganan awal diare pada balita berada pada kategori cukup sebanyak 63
responden (63%) dan sikap ibu dalam penanganan awal diare pada balita sebanyak
100 responden (100%) positif.
Kesimpulan : Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan tingkat pengetahuan dan
sikap ibu dalam penanganan awal diare pada balita di Kecamatan Ulujadi Kota Palu
memiliki hasil cukup dan positif.

MOTHERS LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE IN
INITIAL INTERVENTION OF DIARRHEA ON THE CHILDREN
UNDER FIVE YEARS IN ULUJADI SUBDISTRICT PALU CITY

ABSTRACT
Background. Diarrhea disease remains the second highest cause of death on
children under 5 years in the world. About 1 of 5 children’s death is caused by
diarrhea, number of deaths caused by diarrhea reach out for 1,5 million each year. In
subdistrict of Ulujadi, based on data obtained from Puskesmas Tipo in 2015 found
458 cases (24.26% of the target of 229 infants). This research’s objective is to find
out the mothers level of knowledge and attitude in initial intervention of diarrhea on
the children under 5 years.
Method. This is qualitative research that conducted with survey research method
which is a descriptive research with number of respondens were 100 people. Sample
collecting was conducted with proportional cluster random sampling and the
instrument used was questionnaire.
Result. From about 100 respondents, the mothers level of knowledge in the initial
intervention of diarrhea on the children under five years lied on considerable
category was about 63 respondents (63%), whereas mothers attitude in the initial
intervention of diarrhea on the children under five years was as many as 100
respondents (100%) positive.
Conclussion. Based on the research that has been done, mothers level of knowledge
and attitude in initial intervention of diarrhea on children under 5 years in Ulujadi
Subdistrict Palu City has a considerable and positive result.
