 <note>ABSTRAK&#13;
Latar Belakang :Escherichia coli berbentuk batang pendek (kokobasil), gram negatif&#13;
dengan ukuran 0,4-0,7 μm x 1,4 μm. Sifatnya unik karena dapat menyebabkan infeksi primer&#13;
pada usus misalnya diare pada anak dan penyebab utama travelers diarrhea. Salah satu&#13;
tanaman obat yang dikenal oleh masyarakat awam adalah daun sirih (Piper betle&#13;
L).Kandungan fenol yang terkandung dalam sirih hijau diyakini memiliki kandungan lebih&#13;
banyak dibanding fenol pada umumnya.Tanaman obat lain yang memiliki aktivitas&#13;
antibakteri yaitu kunyit (Curcuma domestica val.). Berdasarkan hasil uji tabung pada ekstrak&#13;
rimpang kunyit mengandung tanin, alkaloid, polifenol, dan flavonoid.&#13;
Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui perbedaan daya hambat ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma domestica&#13;
val.) dengan ekstrak daun sirih hijau (Piper betle linn) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri&#13;
Escherichia coli&#13;
Metode :Jenis penelitian ini adalah post test only control group designdengan pengujian daya&#13;
hambat antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi agar dengan mengukur zona hambat yang&#13;
terbentuk. Konsentrasi ekstrak daun sirih dan kunyit yang diuji adalah 25%, dan 75% dengan&#13;
Ciprofloxacin sebagai kontrol positif dan Na-CMC kontrol negatif.&#13;
Hasil :Hasil penelitian 1. Efek daya hambat ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma domestica val.) pada&#13;
konsentrasi 25% dan 75% yaitu 0 mm dan 13 mm 2. Efek daya hambat ekstrak daun sirih&#13;
hijau (Piper betle linn) pada konsentrasi 25% dan 75% yaitu18 mm dan 22 mm.&#13;
Kesimpulan :Didapatkan perbedaan daya hambat ekstrak kunyit (Curcuma domestica val.)&#13;
dengan ekstrak daun sirih hijau (Piper betle linn) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia&#13;
coli&#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
Background: Escherichia coli forms short stem (kokobacillus), negative gram with size 0.4-&#13;
0.7 μm x 1.4 μm. its feature is unique due to it can cause primary infections in the intestinal&#13;
such as diarrhea on the children and the main cause of diarrhea travelers. One of herbals&#13;
known by primitive is betle leaf (Piper betle linn). The content of phenols in betle leaf is&#13;
believed to have more phenol compared to phenol in general. The other which as&#13;
antibacterial is turmeric (Curcuma domestica val.). Based on the results of the test tube in&#13;
turmeric rhizoma extract contains tannins, alkaloids, polyphenols and flavonoids.&#13;
Aims: To find out difference between turmeric extract power obsturent (Curcuma domestica&#13;
val.) and betle leaf extract (Piper betle linn) on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria&#13;
Methods: this was a post test only control group design with the test of antibacterial power&#13;
obstruent using diffusion method in order that measuring obstruent zone formed.&#13;
Concentration of betle leaf and turmeric tested is 25% and 75% with Ciprofloxacin as&#13;
positive control and Na-CMC negative control&#13;
Results: the results reveal that: 1. The effect of power obsruent of turmeric (Curcuma&#13;
domestica val.) on concentration 25% and 75% is 0 mm and 13 mm 2. The effect of power&#13;
obsruent of betle leaf (Piper betle linn) on concentration 25% and 75 % is 18 mm and 22&#13;
mm .&#13;
Conclusion:it is obtained the difference between turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica val.)&#13;
and betle leaf extract (Piper betle linn) on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria&#13;
