ABSTRACT
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by dengue virus infection, and is still a public health problem and has both social and economic impacts. Dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito bites that are infected with dengue virus. As an effort to prevent mosquito bites personally generally use repellent. DEET (N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) is a commonly used repellent worldwide but can cause hypersensitivity and irritation reactions. Use of natural repellent from essential oil-producing plants such as Mentha suaveolens Ehrh. Can be a substitute for DEET that has higher side effects.
Objective: The objective was to test the effectivity essential oil of Mentha suaveolens Ehrh plant. Against Aedes aegypty mosquitoes.
Method: This research was pure experimental research with Complete Randomized Design (CRD). The sample was female Aedes aegypti mosquito.
Result: The protection power of each essential oil composition of Mentha suaveolens Ehrh plant. Shows a different result where the composition D has the highest protection power of 93%. Post-hoc test results shows that there is a significant difference between composition A and composition D indicated by significance value p = 0,007 (p</note>
