 <note>ABSTRAK&#13;
Latar belakang : Penyakit infeksi adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh mikroba patogen dan bersifat sangat dinamis. Salah satu contoh mikroba patogen adalah bakteri Eschericia coli. Banyak kasus diare yang disebabkan oleh Bakteri Escherichia coli. Tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai obat tradisional adalah daun kersen (Muntigia calabura L). Daun kersen mengandung berbagai senyawa bioaktif yaitu senyawa flavonoid, saponin, triterpen, steroid, dan tannin. Senyawa bioaktif ini merupakan senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri.&#13;
Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui efektifitas antibakteri ekstrak daun kersen (Muntingia calabura L) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli.&#13;
Metode Penelitian : Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental laboratorium Post test only control group design. Tanaman uji yang digunakan adalah daun kersen . Ekstrak daun kersen didapatkan melalui proses maserasi. Ekstrak dibagi ke dalam 4 konsentrasi yaitu konsentrasi 12,5%, konsentrasi 25%, konsentrasi 50%, dan konsentrasi 75%. kontrol positif (Ceftriaxone 200 mg) sedangkan kontrol negatif (Na-CMC 200 mg).&#13;
Hasil Penelitian : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun kersen (Muntigia calabura L) memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli. Pada konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50%, dan 75% yaitu masing-masing rerata diameternya 12,83 mm, 15,83 mm, 17,74 mm, 19,83 mm.&#13;
Kesimpulan : ekstrak daun kersen (Muntigia calabura L) memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli&#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
Background: Infectious diseases are a disease caused by pathogenic microbes and is very dynamic. One example of pathogenic microbes is the bacteria Escherichia coli. Many cases of diarrhea are caused by Escherichia coli Bacteria. Plants that can be used as a traditional medicine is kersen leaf (Muntigia calabura L). Kersen leaf contains various bioactive compounds that are flavonoid, saponins, triterpenes, steroids, and tannins compounds. This bioactive compound is a compound that potential as an antibacterial.&#13;
Objective: To know effectivity of antibacterial of kersen leaf extract (Muntingia calabura L) on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria.&#13;
Method: This experimental research laboratory is a Post test only control group design. The test plant used is kersen leaf. Kersen leaf extract is obtained by maceration process. The extract was divided into 4 concentrations that are concentration of 12.5%, concentration of 25%, concentration of 50%, and concentration of 75%. Positive control (Ceftriaxone 200 mg) and negative control (Na-CMC 200 mg).&#13;
Results: The result showed that kersen leaf extract (Muntigia calabura L) had an antibacterial effect on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. At concentrations of 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 75%, respectively, the mean diameter is 12.83 mm, 15.83 mm, 17.74 mm, 19.83 mm.&#13;
Conclusion: kersen leaf extract (Muntigia calabura L) has antibacterial effect on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria&#13;
