Latar Belakang: Schistosoma termasuk Schistosoma japonicum (S. japonicum) dapat hidup pada hospes perantara seperti tikus dan menginfeksi mamalia termasuk manusia dan tikus. Untuk mempelajari patofisiologi Schistosoma maka dapat dipelajari menggunakan model tikus. &#13;
Tujuan: Untuk mendeskripsikan perubahan histopatologi hepar tikus wistar yang terinfeksi S. japonicum. &#13;
Metode: Desain penelitian berupa kuasi eksperimental dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Sampel penelitian tikus wistar jantan berusia 8 minggu, berat 250–350 gr. Sampel berjumlah 16 ekor, diinjeksikan serkaria S. japonicum secara intraperitoneal, dibagi dalam 4 kelompok, kelompok Kontrol (K) terminasi hari ke-0, kelompok P1 terminasi hari ke-14, kelompok P2 terminasi hari ke-42, kelompok P3 terminasi hari ke-60. Hepar dinekropsi dan diperiksa histopatologi dengan pewarnan hematoksilin eosin, dan dianalisis secara kualitatif. &#13;
Hasil: Kelompok K menunjukan gambaran histologis hepar yang normal, kelompok P1 didapati degenerasi hepatosit, pelebaran sinusoid dan sel radang, kelompok P2 tampak degenerasi hepatosit, apoptosis, pelebaran sinusoid, dan selradang, kelompok P3 tampak degenerasi hepatosit, nekrosis hepatosit, dan infiltrasi sel-sel radang (PMN) serta dijumpai adanya penebalan jaringan ikat.&#13;
Kesimpulan: Adanya degenerasi hepatosit, apoptosis dan nekrosis hepatosit, terdapat infiltrasi sel radang yang masif serta timbulnya fibrosis yang merubah struktur pembuluh darah dan hepar secara umum dan belum ditemukan granuloma pada tikus wistar terinfeksi S. japonicum.&#13;

Abstract&#13;
Background: Schistosoma including schistosoma japonicum (S. japonicum) can&#13;
live on such intermediary hospes, such as rat and infect mammals including&#13;
humans and rats.so to study the pathophysiology of schistosoma, it can be studied&#13;
using rats models.&#13;
Objective: To describe the histopathology change in liver rats infected with S.japonicum&#13;
Method: The study design was quasi-experimental with a descriptive qualitative approach.male wistar rats, 8 weeks, body weight 250-350 grams, the cercarie of S.japonicum were injected i.p and divide in to 4 group. The central group were saccrificed at day 0, group P1were sacrificed at day 14, group P2 were sacrificed at day 42 and group P3 were saccrified at day 60, The liver was necropted and processed to oktain paraffin section and use hematoxilin eosin stain and analyzed qualitatively.&#13;
Results: Group K showed normal liver histology, group P1 found the degeneration of hepatocyte, hepatic sinusoid dilation,and inflammatory cells infiltration, group P2 showed the degenaration hepatocyte, apoptosis, sinusoid dilation, and infiltration of inflammatory, group P3 found the progresif if PMN infiltration and fibrosis. &#13;
Conclusion: There is any histopathological changes in rats liver infected with S. japonicum that showed the degeneration of hepatocyte, apoptosis, necrosis, massive inflammatory. Cell Infiltration and fibrosis that changes blood vesse and liver structure. &#13;
