<note>Abstract
Background: Candidiasis is the most frequent infection among all fungal infections. Candida species that most frequently cause infection is the Candida albicans which is actually a normal flora to humans. As a country that owns the second greatest biodiversity in the world, Indonesia is rich of material sources that could be used and developed as a traditional medicine, one of which is the clove plant (Syzigum aromaticum). Eugenol is a potent antifungal, which compounds found in the leaves of a clove is
Purpose: To know the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) in clove leaf extract (Syzygium aromaticum) against the Candida albicans fungal.
Materials & Metode: Clove Leaf (Syzigum aromaticum), ethanol 96%, Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA), distilled water, ketoconazole, isolates of the Candida albicans fungal, rotary evaporator, analytical scales, petri dish, incubator, needle loop, Bunsen, micropipette, bar , test tubes, and a sterile micropipette tip. The test method used an antifungal agar diffusion method with wells. The concentration of extract used were 100%, 40%, 20%, 10%. Wells that have been inserted with the testing materials are put on petri dishes containing testing fungal, and then incubated at 37 ° C for 18-24 hours. Antifungal effect is measured by the width of the inhibition zone (clear zone) which is formed.
Results: The results showed that the clove leaf extract (Syzigum aromaticum) has an effect in inhibiting the growth of the Candida albicans fungal with various concentrations of 100%, 40%, 20%, 10%. Results of the one-way ANOVA showed statistically significant differences of changes in the concentration of clove leaf extract (Syzigum aromaticum) against Candida albicans (p</note>
